The Affordable Housing Commission is holding a workshop entitled "How to Apply for Funding" on Friday, September 20, 2019. The workshop is designed to help new and inexperienced applicants understand how to apply for Trust Fund dollars, what is expected of all proposals, and what documentation is required.

How to Apply for Funding Workshop
The Affordable Housing Commission will present a workshop titled, “How To Apply for Funding” on Friday, September 20, 2019. The program will focus on applying for Affordable Housing Trust Fund grants and loans. The workshop will be held at 1520 Market Street, Room 2000 (2nd floor SLDC Boardroom) St. Louis, MO 63103.
While all applicants are welcome to attend, the workshop is specifically designed to help new and inexperienced applicants understand how to apply for Trust Fund dollars, and to help previous applicants who have not successfully been awarded Trust Fund dollars understand what makes a great project, what documentation is required, and, what is expected of all proposals.
“We want to receive phenomenal proposals for state-of-the-art affordable housing projects and programs” says April Ford Griffin, Executive Director of the Affordable Housing Commission. “We have high expectations of the non-profit organizations and developers we fund -- so it’s only right that we teach prospective applicants what it takes to be a successful Trust Fund recipient and, once awarded, how to implement an affordable housing project that we will all be proud of.”
The Affordable Housing Commission will publish a Notice of Funding Available (NOFA) notifying the public that applications for funding will be accepted from mid-September 2019 – 4:00 p.m., November 1, 2019. The Commission expects to receive about 70 applications. Trust Fund dollars will be awarded in early January 2020 to developers and non-profit agencies that create and preserve affordable housing, and that offer programs and services that support affordable housing solutions in the City of St. Louis.
9:00 – 10:00 a.m. AHC’s Grant Program
The first hour will focus on Trust Fund Grants which are awarded to non-profit organizations and faith-based organizations to help pay for programs and services that include:
Education and Counseling
Rent/Mortgage/Utility Subsidies
Neighborhood Stabilization
Home Repairs
Homeless Prevention/Shelter
Transitional Housing
Foreclosure Prevention
10:00 – 11:30 a.m. AHC’s Construction Program
The second hour will focus on the Trust Fund’s loan program which funds the new construction and rehabilitation of affordable rental housing and for-sale homes.
11:30 – 12:00 a.m. Question & Answer Session
This workshop is open to everyone. It is not mandatory that applicants attend. Participants are welcome to come and leave. If you have questions, call 314-657-3880.
