Starting this morning, a portion of the left eastbound lane of Lambert International Boulevard (LIB) will be closed at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. This is occurring as Metro Transit begins stage five during the fourth week of its biennial inspection of the elevated MetroLink tracks that run just east of STL’s T2 to STL’s Terminal One (T1). This inspection is a 12 stage process and stages five to seven will be conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
Stage five commences at 7 a.m. During this stage, the left lane of eastbound LIB will be closed just west of the intersection of Terminal 2’s (T2) Arrivals Drive exit and LIB. As work progresses in stage six, the closure of the left lane of eastbound LIB will be extended to just east of the intersection of T2’s Arrivals Drive exit and LIB. Eastbound traffic exiting from Arrivals and Departures Drive will merge into one left turn lane at the light during this stage.
Finally, as work moves forward into stage seven, the left lane of eastbound LIB will be closed just east of the intersection of T2’s Arrivals Drive exit and LIB. The two left-turn lanes exiting from the T2 Garage will be reduced to one turning lane as work continues during stage seven (see the accompanying diagram for the traffic control plans). Stage seven work is scheduled to be finished by 2:30 p.m. Wednesday (November 17).
As the inspection moves to other sections of the MetroLink tracks, the public can expect other various lane closures as well as rerouting of traffic. Announcements by STL will be made prior to any traffic pattern changes. This MetroLink project is now scheduled to be completed on November 20.
