Greetings and Happy Independence Day:

Let's make this 4th of July a safe one filled with family outings and celebrations where we leave firework displays to the professionals.  Just last week a 10 year old boy lost 4 of his fingers when he was trying to light a fire cracker.

Fireworks are illegal in the City of St. Louis.  See the  flyer below from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.  Thanks to Officer Joseph Calabro for putting this flyer together.

You can watch a "Fun Without Fireworks" video featuring Police Chief Sam Dotson and Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeEtfJSIDUg

Thanks to Chief Dotson and Chief Jenkerson for their efforts to let us know about t he dangers of fireworks and the law.

Unfortunately every year we see children shooting bottle rockets at each other and at cars.  Innumerable explosions of fireworks unnecessarily upset dogs and people and too often result in property damage.  The hospital emergency rooms are filled with the tragic consequences of fireworks.

There are numerous locations in the St. Louis region where you can get your fill of awesome professional fireworks displays.

Perhaps because it is after July 4, the Sublette Park (Arsenal & Sublette) Fireworks Display is not listed.  It will be after sunset on Saturday, July 6.

My guess is that most of you reading this already know about the dangers of amateur fireworks.  I urge you to share this information with those who may not know.

Thanks.

Craig
