The Iowa Buffet - Celebrating Its Silver Anniversary With A Frosted Mug

Have you ever wondered where that corner saloon of yesteryear went after the TV series "Cheers" ended?  Well, come to Iowa Buffet (2727 Winnebago) at the corner of Winnebago & Iowa, "Where everybody knows your name."

This spring Iowa Buffet will be celebrating its 25th anniversary under the capable management of Carol McKinney (she began her career there as a mere child).  The corner has sported a saloon/bar virtually forever.  Prior to Ms. McKinney's tenure it was owned for 34 years by Hank & Vicky Koziacki.  Look for the historic neon Budweiser sign, yellow painted bricks and green metal awnings.
 
Iowa Buffet is still famous for its "Hank" Burger for $2.50 and great homemade french fries for $2.25.  Ask Carol for the secret recipe, if you dare!  Also featured are barbecue specials on Saturday and daily homemade soups, chili, etc.  -- why everything is homemade and made right there in an intimate atmosphere.  You can get a great lunch in the $5.95 price range in addition to reasonably priced beverages (soft drinks, coffee, tea and adult).  The establishment is smoker friendly, so if you are averse to smokers, this is not your place.  Of course you can get mixed drinks and draught and bottled beer -- Busch products -- without going bankrupt.
