Mothers Day 2018This past Friday, the Board of Aldermen started off their meeting with a tribute to mothers in the City of St. Louis in honor of Mother’s Day.

Many of the mothers present had lost their child due to violence in the City of St. Louis. The meeting started off with a violinist serenading the mothers and ended with a call to action in St. Louis.

“We are living in a troubling time and it requires all of us to be guidance counselors,” said 19th Ward Alderwoman Marlene Davis. “We can't stop. If anything, we have to excel and do more."

"We need to put it in context and not just about a number,” said Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed. “Somebody loved them. So on this Mother's Day let's remember that."

After the ceremony, the mothers were presented with a rose.
