City of St. Louis Department of Health Releases Department Impact Report

The City of St. Louis Department of Health has issued an Impact Report covering its operations from October 2021 to the present. The report provides and overview of the agency’s accomplishments during Director of Health Dr. Mati Hlatshwayo Davis’ first year of leadership.
“The goal of the report is to be transparent about the operations of the department,” says Dr. Mati Hlatshwayo Davis, Director of Health for the City of St. Louis. “This includes sharing with the general public and the many public health stakeholders in the region accomplishments of the department, but also highlighting the numerous challenges and opportunities the department faced.”
“The Impact Report shares evidence of our commitment to our mission and vision,” says Victoria Anwuri, Commissioner of Health for the City of St. Louis “Work toward our health equity priority is evidenced throughout the report showing operations aligning with our vision of an equitable community achieving optimal health for all.”
The department spotlights highlighted in the report include protecting residents from COVID-19 and monkeypox; response efforts to July’s severe flooding; the daylong visit from Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; the appointment of Commissioner of Health Victoria Anwuri; the launch of a new Behavioral Health Bureau; and the state’s limits to reproductive health. The report also has a staff accomplishments page.
Spotlighted sections throughout the report identify strategic plan priorities, goals, and objectives being target and met with department operations. “The department will continue to use this format for our annual report moving forward,” said Kimberly Vanden Berg, Public Information Officer for the Department of Health. The format was chosen so the department could be intentional in sharing how the department is working towards its strategic plan.
