The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a Winter Storm Warning for 6 PM Wednesday, November 14, 2018, until 6 PM Thursday, November 15, 2018, for portions of east central Missouri, including the City of St. Louis. Heavy snow is expected with total accumulations of 5 to 7 inches. A Winter Storm Warning for Snow means that heavy snowfall of 6 inches or more is expected within a 12-hour time period or 8 inches within a 24-hour time period.
As a result of the snow, slippery road conditions are anticipated. Hazardous conditions will be created that could impact the Thursday morning and/or evening commutes. The rapid accumulation of snow will make travel extremely difficult. Precautions should be taken if travel is necessary.
The City of St. Louis Department of Health joins the National Weather Service in St. Louis in recommending commuters begin their travel with a full tank of gas and carry a winter storm kit which includes a shovel, flashlight, cell phone, food and water, blankets, and extra warm clothing.
Plan for a slower than normal trip. Be extremely cautious when approaching bridges, exit ramps, overpasses, and curves in the road.
