Re-Cast Participatory Budgeting Kickoff Events

The Re-Cast Participatory Budgeting Kickoff Events are great opportunities for residents of the Promise Zone in the City of St. Louis on December 14, 2017 and January 6, 2018 to learn more about how they can have a voice in what services are provided in their community as part of funding from Re-CAST.

Re-CAST is the Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma $4.7 grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMSHA) that was awarded to the St. Louis County Department of Public Health and in which the City of St. Louis Department of Health is a lead organization to fund projects for community well-being in the areas of: Violence Prevention; Youth Engagement; Mental Health; Peer Support; and Trauma Informed Care.

Project services are focused on the Promise Zone, which includes 11 wards in North City and 28 municipalities in North County.

Participatory Budgeting Delegates have an opportunity to select from a selection of service they want to provide, such as:  helping to write the scope of work for the requests for proposals for services; reviewing and evaluating applications that are received in response to the request for proposals; and community outreach.  There is a stipend and trainings in the areas of Facilitative Leadership; Scope of Work Development, Racial Equity, and Trauma Informed Care; as well as background in Mental Health, Peer Support, Violence Prevention and Youth Engagement are provided.
