The Point-in-Time (PIT) count is a count of sheltered and unsheltered homeless persons on a single night in January. HUD requires that Continuums of Care (CoCs) conduct an annual count of homeless persons who are sheltered in emergency shelter, transitional housing, and Safe Havens on a single night.
Information collected during the PIT count guides the City of St. Louis efforts to end homelessness in St. Louis, and it helps local agencies secure funding to deliver assistance to those in need.
We rely on volunteers to gather this information by canvassing the streets and interview individuals experiencing homelessness.
The 2019 PIT count will take place on: Thursday January 31, 2019 from 5-9 am.
