City of St. Louis Winter Operations in Effect for Weekend Weather

Emergency Cold Weather Overflow Shelter to Open Saturday, Sunday

ST. LOUIS -- Freezing temperatures and inclement weather are anticipated this weekend and pose an increased risk to anyone experiencing homelessness. The City of St. Louis, area agencies, and volunteers are banding together to implement its emergency response during the winter months, which includes opening additional shelter bed space and increasing outreach efforts to accommodate unsheltered homeless men, women, and children. 

Winter Operations for Saturday, January 9, 2016, are as follows:

AmeriCorp (doors open at 6 p.m.) 
1315 Ann Ave 
St. Louis, MO 63104

12th and Park (men only) –limited walk-up availability, use transportation that leaves Christ Church Cathedral at 6 p.m.

  • Pick-up location: Christ Church Cathedral, 1210 Locust Street, St. Louis, MO 63101 
  • Shelter location: 12th and Park, 1410 South Tucker, St. Louis, MO 63104 
Referrals for winter shelter also can be made through the Housing Resource Center hotline at (314) 802-5444 or through United Way by dialing 211.

Winter Operations for Sunday, January 10, 2016, are as follows:

Referrals for winter shelter should be made through the Housing Resource Center hotline at (314) 802-5444 or be reporting to The Bridge Outreach, 1610 Olive St., St. Louis, MO 63103 before 5:30 p.m. The Bridge is the central pick-up point and will connect people to appropriate shelter locations.

After 6 p.m., the following shelters are available for walk-ups:

AmeriCorp (doors open at 6 p.m.)

St. Louis, MO 63104

Calvary Missionary Baptist Church 
2822 Dr. Martin Luther King 
St. Louis, MO 63106 

12th and Park (men only) –limited walk-up availability, sign up at The Bridge Outreach before 5:30 p.m. for placement. 
  • Pick-up location: The Bridge Outreach, 1610 Olive St., St. Louis, MO 63103 
  • Shelter location: 12th and Park, 1410 South Tucker, St. Louis, MO 63104

Staff and volunteers from St. Louis Winter Outreach, St. Patrick Center, The Bridge Outreach, Gateway 180, Places for People, BJC Behavioral, St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, City of St. Louis, and other partners are working together to decrease weather-related deaths and hospital visits among people who are homeless in the St. Louis community.
