Effective immediately, Jennifer Florida is the City of St. Louis Recorder of Deeds, as appointed by Mayor Francis Slay.
The appointment follows former Recorder of Deeds Sharon Q. Carpenter's resignation.
Florida took the oath of office, administered by Circuit 22 Judge Steven Ohmer, on Monday morning. Under state law, Mayor Slay appointed Florida to serve out the remainder of the Recorder's term, which ends December 31, 2014.
"The Office of the Recorder of Deeds is an important one," said Mayor Slay. "I am confident that Jennifer will administer it well."
