Mayor Lyda Krewson Is Leading the Fight on Climate Change

The Natural Resources Defense Council, or NRDC, has recognized St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson for the tremendous strides the City has taken under leadership, vision and policies toward reducing our carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions. In a news release Friday, the NRDC called Mayor Krewson a "leader in the fight on climate change."

The NRDC is an international environmental advocacy non-profit that’s been working since 1970 to safeguard and ensure the rights of all people to the air, the water, and the wild.

“Our climate protection accomplishments are noteworthy and encouraging. We have achieved a lot of climate protection milestones already. At the same time, it is clear that attaining carbon neutrality will require robust support from citizens, organizations, and the private sector. Together, we can make the city a cleaner, greener, healthier and more prosperous place to be,” Mayor Krewson said.

Meantime, Mayor Krewson is proud to join 28th Ward Alderwoman Heather Navarro this morning in officially introducing a Solar Readiness Board Bill before the St. Louis Board of Aldermen. 

The bill, which continues Mayor Krewson’s unparalleled commitment to the environment, represents the first piece of climate legislation proposed since the City became a recipient of the American Cities Climate Challenge award. The legislation is also directly aligned with the City’s Climate Action & Adaptation Plan for the City of St. Louis Sustainability Plan, and it advances the use of solar energy in St. Louis.
