City of St. Louis Announces Summer Fun STL Youth Programming Sites, Summer Youth Job Opportunities

Today, St. Louis officials announced this year’s Summer Fun STL youth summer camp locations across the city to keep young people engaged throughout the summer months in safe and supportive environments.

“Whether at youth programming locations, camps at our recreation centers, or building skills with a summer job, we’re working collaboratively to make sure youth have a safe place to go to have fun this summer,” said Office of Violence Prevention Director Wilford Pinkney. “We’re appreciative of our community partners and city agencies for working together to create better opportunities for our youth this summer and help keep them safe.”

Through a combination of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, the City of St. Louis has partnered with community providers to expand summer camps, programs, pop-up events, and job opportunities to keep youth safe in fun and educational environments in the summer months. The ten locations open in June and run through the summer, providing recreational and educational activities and meals to hundreds of youth ages 5 to 17. The Office of Violence Prevention will also continue to run monthly community-building events in neighborhoods across St. Louis following successful events in Gravois Park and Baden, with the next scheduled in Mount Pleasant Park on June 17. 

The City’s free summer camps are also running at seven recreation centers and still accepting registrants, and the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) continues to recruit youth for summer job opportunities. 

“A summer job through SLATE sets youth on the path to success, and we are expanding our options with help from the American Rescue Plan,” said SLATE Summer Youth Employment Program Coordinator Allen Perkins. “Our Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) connects St. Louis youth ages 14-24 with work experience through various businesses and organizations in St. Louis City, and I encourage youth and their caregivers to explore this great opportunity.”
