2023 Summer Fellowships

We are offering four summer fellowships in the Mayor’s Office. Mayor Jones is committed to building a St. Louis where everyone can thrive. Join us to learn more about how local government works, project management, and public relations. We are seeking individuals above the age of 18.
Our fellowship positions are as follows. Please indicate in your cover letter which position you are applying for.
Pay
Fellows will be paid $15/ hour and will have parking provided for the duration of their fellowship. Fellows are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week. Fellows should indicate in their cover letter if they are available to work additional hours. Remote work will be permitted on occasion; however, the fellow should expect to come to the office 1-2 days a week.
Duration
Fellowships begin in early June and end in mid-August.

Communications Fellow
Our Communications Fellow will directly support our team to stay on top of the news and ready to share highlights of city work. This fellow will assist with tasks including but not limited to compiling daily press clippings, drafting communications products including letters, talking points, video scripts and more. They will also serve as advance staff for press events and work with departments on special projects.
Data Analysis Fellows
Our Data Analysis Fellows will assist our office to create data visualizations and manage the intake of data from various departments. They will help us to identify key performance indicators for various departmental initiatives and compile reports as requested. They will work with our Senior Advisor on Children, Youth, & Families to determine barriers and highlight progress on the City’s funded youth programs. They may also work with our Executive Director for the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council or the City’s Chief Technology Officer. Duties may include assisting our office to compile and create data visualizations, conduct research on youth initiatives and frameworks, and manage the intake of data from awarded program sites. They may also assist in preparing one pagers, website content, and community updates. A data fellow may also help with our Justice Counts data initiative project.
Policy Research Fellow
Our Policy Fellow will assist our office in preparing one pagers, memos, and testimony for City-level legislative proposals, and potentially for state and federal policies impacting the City as well. They will conduct research on policy initiatives and other policy-related matters for the legislative team. They will assist our office in supporting a broad portfolio of projects seeking to advance equity and programs in the areas of guaranteed basic income, housing, vacancy, and projects related to the American Rescue Plan Act. They will work in the intersection of policy and program implementation. They will also support efforts to quantify the impact of legislative proposals.
In addition to the tasks listed above all fellows are expected to do administrative tasks as assigned.
