Historically Sustainable
Guidance for the installation of solar panels in local historic districts.
Historically Sustainable
On February 25, 2013 the Preservation Board adopted guidance for the installation of solar panels in local historic districts. This Solar Panel Installation Policy supports the two approached to solar panel installations in the Standards adopted by ordinance. Some districts have a "no visibility required" standard and others have a "visual compatibility required" standard. The Policy statement identifies which standard each district has and provides guidance for meeting the standards. Reviewing the Policy is a critical first step in any solar panel installation project planning and application.
