Safe Streets Ordinance 69264 (2012) - protects the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and motor vehicle occupants.

Bike Parking Ordinance 69148 (2012) - requires residential and commercial bicycle parking under the Zoning Code for all new construction and renovations equal to or in excess of $1,000,000.

Clean Energy Development Board Ordinance 69056 (2012) - authorizes the creation of a "PACE" Board to oversee the Set The PACE St. Louis energy efficiency financing program.

Form-Based Code Ordinance 69199 (2012) – creates a form-based district that encourages sustainable growth and promotes the health, safety, and general welfare of the community by providing a cohesive urban form and character.

Tree Ordinance 68607 (2010) - requires that the City has no net loss in the population and canopy of its urban forest.

Complete Streets Ordinance 68663 (2010) - requires transportation improvements be planned, designed, and constructed to encourage walking, bicycling, and transit use.

No-Idling Ordinance 68137 (2008) - prohibits vehicle idling for longer than five minutes (10 minutes when temperatures dip below freezing).

Municipal Energy Efficiency Ordinance 67803 (2007) - requires builders to analyze energy consumption, long-term operating costs and possible energy efficient measures for all new municipal construction or major remodels of municipal buildings.

Municipal LEED Standards Ordinance 67414 (2007) - requires all new municipal construction over 5,000 square feet to be built to LEED Silver standards.

 

Sustainability Resolutions & Executive Orders 

Executive Order No. #68: Priority Procurement of Clean Municipal Vehicles

The Board of Aldermen passes Resolution 85- Biophilic Cities Network (2016) in support of the principles of the Biophilic Cities Network and directs the City of St. Louis to join the Biophilic Cities Network.

Mayor Slay signed Executive Order No. 52 (2015) to promote event recycling, environmentally preferable procurement and related sustainability practices in the City.

Executive Order No. 43 (2008) bans the purchase of bottled water by city departments, except in case of emergency.
