Deputy Public Administrator - Finance
Employment opportunity with the Office of the Public Administrator
Manages all accounts held for the benefit of estates administered by the office. The position is responsible for preparing checks, receipting for income, reconciling bank accounts, and maintaining account information on the office database. The position assists in the collection of assets; prepares applications and reports as necessary for MO HealthNet, Veterans Administration, Social Security, Retirement, or other benefits accruing to the estate; initiates new asset files on all office data systems; and manages relationships with sureties.
The position requires the successful candidate to be well-organized and detail oriented. The candidate must be able to calendar their tasks and follow through as planned. The candidate must be precise and conscientious. Former experience as a bookkeeper, accounts payable specialist, or in banking and familiarity with public benefits such as Missouri HealthNet, Medicare, and Veterans Benefits are recommended.
The position will work directly with the public administrator for payment and processing of monthly expenditures on behalf of wards and for administration of decedents’ estates. The position will work with other staff for audit of accounts and reporting responsibilities.
The position will interface with bankers, benefits analysts, nursing facility accountants, wards, and other stakeholders and must maintain patience and professionalism at all times.
The position will have an appropriate work station and access to office automation systems including SQL-based database for processing accounts and preparation of checks.
This position bears the primary responsibility to keep the books of account absolutely accurate and in compliance with annual audits from the probate court. Honesty, integrity, and accuracy are a must.
