City of St. Louis Announces Plans for the Replacement of the Compton Ave. Bridge

The City of St. Louis has been in the process of designing the replacement of the Compton Avenue Bridge, located between Spruce Street and Chouteau Avenue. The proposed bridge will include four lanes of vehicular traffic, a protected two-way cycle track, and a pedestrian sidewalk. The new bridge will provide the public a safe and accessible north-south connection across the Mill Creek Railyard for all types of travelers. The project will be fully funded with a Federal Transportation Grant along with a local match share.

Preliminary engineering plans are now complete. A virtual (online) public hearing will be held Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interested persons can access the virtual hearing at www.ComptonBridge.com. During this time, participants will have an opportunity to submit their views on the design. City representatives will be available during the hearing to answer comments/questions submitted by the public. The website will remain online for one week following the scheduled virtual hearing for viewing purposes. Tentative schedules for the right-of-way acquisition and construction will be discussed at the hearing.

Prior to the hearing, maps, plats, environmental documentation, and other detail information prepared by the City and their consultants will be available for public inspection and copying at the Office of the President, Board of Public Service, Room 301 City Hall.
