What is Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)?
Products around the home that contain chemicals which are toxic, flammable, corrosive, or reactive are hazardous household products.
These products are safe when used and stored following label direction. However, when the products become unusable and are no longer wanted, they become household hazardous waste.

Instructions
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) facilities are open and available to all residents of St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and Jefferson County. An appointment is required for disposal.

Fees
A $14/month/unit fee is covered by your solid waste services fee collected quarterly on your water bill. Some fees may apply for excessive waste, large/bulk items, commercial, or non-city residents, etc.
What to Expect
Hazardous Household Waste (HHW) Accepted:

- Paints and Stains including, paints, stains, varnishes, wood preservatives, solvents, strippers, driveway sealant, and aerosols.
- Fuel Products including, gasoline, motor oil, filters, gas cylinders/tanks up to 20 gallons.
- Chemicals including, pesticides, herbicides, poisons, fertilizers, etc.
- Other items such as, fluorescent tubes, batteries, mercury-containing devices, and more!
- St. Louis City residents may recycle Automotive Materials and Batteries and motor oil at City Transfer drop-off stations at no charge.
- Learn about Bulk and B.O.A.T. waste pick-up services.
Electronic Waste Accepted:
The City of St. Louis Recycling Program collects electronics on scheduled bulk pick-up days. All battery and corded electronics are accepted, including:
- Home entertainment (VCRs, Betamax, DVD players, cassette players, Blue Ray players, 8-track players, turntables, etc.)
- Kitchen items (blenders, food processors, toasters, microwaves, etc.)
- Bathroom items (curling irons, flat irons, night lights, electric razors, electric toothbrushes, clocks, blow dryers, etc.)
- Yard equipment (weed eaters, snow blowers, lawn mowers, etc.)
- Appliances (dishwashers, refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc.)
- Office equipment (printers, scanners, copiers, etc.)
Not Accepted:
- Explosives and ammunition, radioactive waste, smoke detectors, medical and infectious waste, prescription drugs and medications,
- Computers, televisions and other electronic devices, tires, trash, and bulky waste such as furniture and carpeting.
