Health Department staff discuss JUMP N2 Shape with individuals competing to become contestants on NBC's hit show The Biggest Loser.

NBC's 'The Biggest Loser' Arrives in St. Louis

On Saturday July 25, 2015, St. Louis welcomed the casting team for NBC's hit show 'The Biggest Loser' to Planet Fitness in Overland, MO. The crew was looking for teams of two to be part of their 17th season. The prize for this season's winner is $250,000, so more than 80 teams lined up for the chance to get into great shape, be on TV, and win a quarter of a million dollars. Staff from the City of St. Louis Department of Health Division of Health Promotion, Education, and Marketing took advantage of the opportunity to greet individuals at the casting call. Health Department staff also spoke with contestants about participating in JUMP N2 Shape to continue their weight loss efforts and make lasting, healthy changes.

JUMP N2 Shape is an initiative designed to promote weight loss and increase fitness among residents in the metropolitan area, and is a major step in working towards Mayor Francis G. Slay's goal to reduce obesity in the City by 5% by 2018.  It is FREE to join, and participants in the initiative are able to go online and log exercise minutes and personal weight loss, as well as find healthy recipes.
