High Fives for Two Department of Health Advisory Board Members
Dr. Will Ross, chairman of the City of St. Louis’ Joint Boards of Health and Hospitals, will be receiving the 2019 Dr. R. Jerome Williams, Sr. Leadership Award for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion. The award is named for the late R. Jerome Williams Sr. M.D. and is presented for distinguished leadership in innovation and initiatives that have helped to advance a diverse and inclusive environment in the St. Louis region.
Dr. Ross is associate dean for diversity at Washington University School of Medicine and professor of medicine in the Renal Division. He is Chairman of the board of directors of the Mid America Transplant Services Foundation and a member of the Centers for Disease and Control Health Disparities Subcommittee where he promotes efforts to further diversity in the public health workforce. A Yale University graduate, he completed medical school at Washington University School of Medicine, His Internal Medicine residency was done at Vanderbilt University, and a Renal Fellowship took place at Washington University. He completed a Master's of Science in Epidemiology at the Saint Louis University School of Public Health.
The award will be presented at the Royal Vagabonds Foundation’s Eighth Annual Leadership Award Luncheon on February 9th at the St. Louis Renaissance Hotel.
Congratulations also go out to Dr. Timothy McBride, vice chairman of the City of St. Louis Joint Boards of Health and Hospitals, He recently received a contract appointment within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as assistant secretary for planning and evaluation in the Office of Health Policy.
Dr. McBride is the Bernard Becker Professor at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin, focusing his research in the areas of health economics, health policy, and aging. In particular, most of his research focuses on Medicare policy, health reform, the uninsured and insurance markets, rural health, Medicaid, and long-term care.
