July is Park and Recreation Month
Parks and recreation programs are an integral part of communities throughout this country
This article is 5 years old. It was published on July 1, 2019.
Since 1985, America has celebrated July as the nation's official Park and Recreation Month. Created by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), Park and Recreation Month specifically highlights the vital and powerful role local parks and recreation play in conservation, health and wellness, and social equity efforts in communities all across the country.
This year's theme for Park and Recreation Month is Game On! We want to celebrate everything that makes parks and recreation fun, joyful and full of excitement. So lace up your fun shoes and get in the game in your own way at your local park or rec center.
The NRPA is encouraging everyone that supports parks and recreation to share how they are Game On for parks and recreation with the hashtag #GameOnJuly.
For information about the recreation programs offered at City Rec Centers, visit the "Recreation Programs" page on this website.
Have fun this month connecting with nature in our great city parks.
