Summer Blood Drive
Shine bright this summer, donate blood. Your single donation can help save up to three lives.
This article is 12 years old. It was published on August 1, 2012.
Comptroller Darlene Green invites you to join her and roll up your sleeve to give blood at the annual American Red Cross Charles Drew Blood Drive that will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17 in City Hall Room 208.
August is the time of the year when blood supplies dwindle. Most donations come from schools and other educational institutions during the year. Since school is out for the summer, August becomes the month when it is crucial to replenish the gift of life.
Dr. Charles Drew was a pioneer in discovering ways to preserve donated blood and established the first American Red Cross blood bank. His discoveries revolutionized the medical profession.
We all know someone who has needed blood. Schedule your appointment today to give blood by either emailing Robin Boyce at boycer@stlouis-mo.gov or calling her at (314) 612-1462. Please bring a valid photo ID with you to your appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome.
