R 331 WHEREAS, it is incumbent upon the Board of Aldermen to express opposition of the efforts to repeal the City of St. Louis’ ability to utilize current revenues raised from its earning tax to fund city services and expressing its intent to continue levying the current voter approved earnings and profits tax that funds basic and essential public services to people living and working in the City of St. Louis and opposing any legislation, initiative or referendum repealing the earnings and profits tax without the Board of Aldermen’s prior endorsement. |

R 5 The Board of Aldermen directs the Public Safety Committee to convene hearings for the purpose of examining and reviewing the conditions of the City jails in relation to the report ofthe ACLU-EM and for developing recommendations, if necessary, andwe direct the committee to include in such discussions the Director of Public Safety and all other parties deemed appropriate and directthe committee to report its findings and recommendations to the full Board of Aldermen by Friday, May 22, 2009. |
R 4 Authorizes the continued payment to each Alderman and the President of the Board of Aldermen expense allowance in the amount of Three Hundred Fifty ($350) Dollars per month and two hundred (200) U.S. Postage stamps for the coming 2009-10 Aldermanic Session, and directs the Comptroller and Treasurer to issue their respective warrants and drafts to implement the payment of said expense allowance as here authorized. |
R 3 Authorizes the Clerk of the Board of Aldermen to prepare the index to the Journal of the Board for the 2009-10 Session and that 35 copies of the Journal be bound and printed and containing certain conditions as provided for by Section 8 of Article VI of the Charter of the City of St. Louis. |
R 2 Regarding hiring of staff for the Board of Aldermen for the 2009-10 Session of the Board as mentioned within the body of the resolution. |
R 1 The Board of Aldermen hereby adopts the Draft Rules as the Rules of the Board for the 2009-10 Session. |
