Friday, Dec. 13 will be the last full Board of Aldermen meeting before the annual holiday recess. The Board of Aldermen will return to its regular session on Friday, Jan. 10 at 10 a.m.

The Board of Aldermen offices will remain open during the holiday break.

Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed is overall pleased with the legislation passed this session, particularly ordinances relating to the issue of public safety. He is hopeful to accomplish even more of the legislative agenda by the end of session.

“This session, the Board of Aldermen came together and said, ‘enough is enough'. We pushed through historic pieces of legislation to reduce violence in our City and we will continue to fight until something changes,” said Reed.

Nearly 200 bills have been introduced at the Board of Aldermen with more than 120 becoming law. Bills that have become law this session range in topics including: the establishment of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council; a cancer prevention initiative for St. Louis Firefighters; regulations and site requirements for medical marijuana facilities in the City; reporting requirements for licensed firearms dealers; and $5M in funding for the data-driven public safety program, Cure Violence.
