Today, the City of St. Louis Board of Aldermen voted unanimously to support Resolution 48, which renews their commitment to reducing gun violence in the City and support local efforts in making a difference.
“Earlier this week, members of the Board of Aldermen made a great stride in coming together to unite and support a program that can make a big impact to our City by committing $500,000 to fund Cure Violence in this upcoming budget. Today, we collectively voted and took a stand to continue to make reducing gun violence in our City one of the Board’s top priorities. I know we can and we will reduce crime and end gun violence in our City. We have no other choice,” said Reed.
The Resolution was drafted in partnership with Everytown and the local chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
"Across St. Louis, people are working to create a safer future for our families and neighborhoods, and that includes our Board of Aldermen. We're grateful to the city for taking gun violence prevention seriously and working to address it, including by supporting proven interventions like Cure Violence,” said Christine Novalis, a St. Louis volunteer with the Missouri chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
