City of St. Louis receives Inaugural Retirement Readiness Award

Comptroller Darlene Green along with her Chief of Staff Elaine Spearman and Mayor Slay are presented with an award from Jeff Bean with the U.S. Conference of Mayors. Great West also recognized the City of St. Louis for offering and participating in its current retirement program. 

St. Louis is the first city in America to receive the award for implementing positive changes that help its employees achieve retirement readiness and financial literacy. Currently, more than 78% of city employees participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation plan. This compares with the average in some other cities which falls below 40% participation.

The "USCM Leadership Award: Leading the Climb to a Bright Financial Future," which recognizes the city's outstanding excellence through education, due diligence and participation in its supplemental retirement program, was first presented to Mayor Slay, Elaine Spearman and the City of St. Louis during the USCM Winter Meeting in Washington, D.C.
