Update on Clemens House Demolition 

The demolition contractor for the Clemens House has been identified as Robert Collins Contracting. The firm notified the Missouri Department of Natural Resources that the demolition would occur between November 20, 2017 and January 20, 2017. The environmental consulting firm Lafser & Associates will be performing project oversight and air monitoring throughout the demolition activity. Clemens House Fire FAQs

After an assessment by the City of St. Louis Department of Health during a fire at 1849 Cass Avenue on July 12, 2017, the Department of Health took immediate action and contacted the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to conduct samplings on the property for toxic contamination from wind-blown building materials from the fire. “The health hazards and health concerns from the burned materials prompted us to make the request right away,” said Chantez Williams, Program Manager for the City of St. Louis Department of Health. An EPA On Scene Coordinator and a federal contractor are working with the City on this issue.
