The Human Rights Campaign has awarded the City of St. Louis a perfect 100 score on the Municipal Equality Index. The Municipal Equality Index is the only nationwide rating system of LGBTQ inclusion in municipal law, policy and services.

Cities are rated based on non-discrimination laws, the municipality as an employer, municipal services, law enforcement and the city leadership's public position on equality. “It is more important than ever before to let our LGBTQ citizens know they are welcome in St. Louis,” Mayor Lyda Krewson said. “We will continue to make sure St. Louis is an inclusive city and we hope this score will help us attract more LGBTQ families, business owners, and tourists.”

These scores reflect years of hard work by dedicated civil servants and elected officials who recognized the need to enshrine basic protections into public policy,” Krewson added. “I would like to thank the Human Rights Campaign for recognizing the work our public employees have done by awarding the City of St. Louis a perfect 100 recognition score,” Krewson said.
