Mayor Tishaura O. Jones, Collector Gregory F.X. Daly Team Up to Kick Off National Voter Education Week

As National Voter Education Week kicks off, Mayor Tishaura O. Jones and Collector Gregory F.X. Daly are joining forces to educate St. Louisans about ballot access both on and before the November 8 election.

“Your vote is your voice,” said Mayor Jones. “National Voter Education Week is a great time to start making your plan to vote. Government works best when we work together, and I am excited to work alongside Collector Daly to help educate families about ballot access and the importance of voting.”

“We want citizens to understand the new voting ID requirements now so they aren’t turned away at the polls on November 8th,” said Collector Daly. “There is time to take care of this now, and we encourage everyone to take the steps to exercise their voting rights this November.”

Through funding from the American Rescue Plan, the St. Louis Board of Election Commissioners has upgraded its voting infrastructure, making voting more accessible than ever. On November 8, City voters will have the option of either voting at their assigned precinct or stopping by one of 12 Vote Centers located throughout the city to cast a ballot.

No-Excuse Absentee voting will open in the two-week period prior to Election Day beginning October 25 at Buder Library, Schlafly Library, Julia Davis Library, and the Board’s office downtown. Voters can find their assigned polling location as well as other voting options through the address lookup tool. 

While St. Louis is working to improve ballot access, voters will be required to present an unexpired, acceptable photo ID when they cast a ballot in accordance with a new Missouri law. For those without a photo ID, there is help available.

Missourians can obtain one free non driver ID through the Missouri Department of Revenue at regional Department of Motor Vehicles (DMVs), including the DMV at City Hall, 1200 Market Street. Proof of residency, proof of identity, and a social security card are required. Please note that capacity at the City Hall location is limited and the best option for those already picking up needed documentation in the building. Residents should join the virtual lobby queue before coming by.

National Voter Education Week is a nonpartisan education campaign held during the first week of October to equip voters with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to cast a ballot. The last day to register to vote in the November 8 election is October 12, 2022.
