The Employee Relations Section has administrative responsibility for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), drug and alcohol screening, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and labor relations.
The Employee Relations Section has administrative responsibility for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), drug and alcohol screening, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and labor relations. The section also conducts hearings on service rating appeals, oversees the employee grievance process, provides training on drug and alcohol testing, and bids and administers service contracts.
This section is also responsible for investigating equal employment opportunity complaints filed by City employees;conducting investigations of internally-filed complaints related to discrimination/harassment;developing and administering the City's Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment Administrative regulations;and training on EEO topics.
Example subjects of grievance topics are: job, vehicle, or route assignments;fair and consistent application of department policies and procedures;denial of leave or duty exchange;physical environment and working conditions, and relationships with coworkers and supervisors.
