Position Specifications
Incumbents in this position install, repair and maintain electrical system components, fixtures and lines and coordinate work assignments. Other duties include overseeing electrical safety; troubleshooting and inspecting work for completeness and compliance with specifications; providing training and monitoring and reporting on work progress.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of full-time paid experience as an Electrician; OR one year of full-time paid experience as a journeyman Electrician plus any one of the following: completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in the electrical trade, completion of a technical or trade school program in electricity, or licensure by the City of St. Louis as an Electrician. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
License: Incumbents must possess and maintain a valid Missouri Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B) while employed by the City of St. Louis. Candidates that have a CDL permit at the time of hire and must obtain a valid CDL (Class A or B) as a condition of successfully completing their working test period. Proof of educational achievement/training must be submitted with the Employment Application or upon request.

Your employment experience and training will be used to determine whether you meet the entrance requirements for this position and to compute your experience and training evaluation. MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass an oral swab "Drug Screen" as part of the Medical examination.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of their DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or upon request. The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion, accept alternate documentation.
CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points. City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $180.00 bi-weekly. A ten year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
