Position Specifications
This is work installing, troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, modifying and maintaining instrumentation and electronic control systems. Depending upon the specific assignment, equipment maintained may include monitoring instruments, data loggers, air pumps, transmissometers, digital and analog phone circuits, and control and communications cables including fiber optics. Positions may require operation of electronic test equipment, such as voltmeter, oscilloscope and Huntron tracker, digital phone line test set, and fiber splicer; building and maintaining PLC and Computer Control Systems; keeping records of maintenance and repair activities; assisting other personnel in performing quality control activities involving the use of gas cylinders, zero air generators and dilution systems; operating and servicing manual air sampling equipment. Some on-call duty may be required.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, AND, two years of full-time paid experience in electronics;
OR, four years experience in the installation, service and maintenance of low voltage control and communication systems such as building automation, fire alarm, security systems or telephone systems; OR, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must possess computer literacy on Windows operating system and knowledge of Solid DC circuit theory.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must be able to present valid driver's license upon request. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of or training in the following areas: National Electric Code; Radio Frequency Communications systems; Local Area Networking, Programmable Logic Controllers, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems.

CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points. City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
