Position Specifications

This is a managerial position planning and coordinating environmental outreach and education programs for the City of St. Louis Operation Brightside. The incumbent is responsible for assigning the work of subordinate personnel; planning and implementing outreach efforts; offering continuing education courses to schools, community centers, and City departments; assigning tasks and projects related to the programs and projects; preparing and making presentations  to educate the public regarding recycling, clean-up activities, litter awareness, and encouraging citizen participation; securing grant funds for activities; developing procedures for meeting grant requirements; and collaborating with department leaders and the Mayor's Office to maximize awareness of the City's initiatives and plans.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field; plus three years of progressively responsible supervisory or administrative experience in a related recycling or sustainability program including one year of grant seeking; OR, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis.  Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present upon request.  Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.

CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points.  City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
