What can I bring or send to an inmate?  

No one is permitted to bring anything in to inmates housed at St. Louis City Justice Center or the Medium Security Institution.

Please send all letters for an inmate to:

How can I get a Letter of Incarceration for an inmate?  

If the inmate is still confined with the Division of Corrections:

  1. call (314) 621-5848, 
  2. press 1 to speak to the Operator
  3. give the inmate name
  4. you will be ransferred to their Correctional Caseworker. 

If the inmate has been released from the Division of Corrections

  1. call (314) 621-5848, ext. 2255 or 2226 
  2. speak with the Data Entry Unit 

How can I get an inmate's property?  

How can the inmate contact me?  

Inmates are permitted to make free phone calls at initial intake.  Telephones are available to the inmates in the general population housing units where all calls are collect, unless an inmate uses a pre-paid account. 

To set up a telephone account for the inmate call (877) 618-3516.  

How can I post bond?  

How do I get medical treatment or prescribed medication for my confined family member?  

Everyone who is confined receives a medical screening from a nurse upon intake; a full medical screening will be conducted shortly thereafter. 

A trained medical professional will follow up with external clinics and physicians' offices to ensure continuity of services.  

How do I file a complaint?  

To file a complaint, please call the Constituent Services Unit;
