Fire Private

Salary Range: $32,981—$ 51,168

Nature of Work: Firefighting in today's society is both challenging and exciting. Modern fire and rescue services offer a diverse array of technical and emergency response capabilities which make up a highly rewarding community service career. In addition to being highly trained fire and rescue personnel, many of our firefighters are also EMT’s, Paramedics, or members of specialized units of the St. Louis Fire Department. The specialized units include: Dive Rescue and Marine Unit Task Force, Haz-Mat Task Force, Collapse Rescue Task Force, and Heavy Rescue Squads with many other capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Age: 21
  • Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
  • License: Valid driver’s license

 

EMT

Salary Range: $28,314 - $42,484

Nature of Work: This is work assisting in the administration of emergency medical care and transportation of critically ill or injured patients. Emergency Medical Technicians serve as team members while responding to a variety of medical and public safety situations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A current Missouri Emergency Medical
  • Technician License (EMT-B) and possession of a valid driver’s license.

 

Paramedic

Salary Range: $34,164 - $51,272

Nature of Work: This is responsible, technical work in administering complex emergency medical care to critically ill or injured patients prior to or while being transported in an advanced life support vehicle.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A current Missouri EMT-P License
  • Current certification in ACLS
  • Valid driver’s license.
