Land Tax Sales
Information about the regular land tax sales held by the Sheriff's Office to sell properties with delinquent land taxes.
Overview
Land tax sales are events during which the City auctions off properties when the owner has not paid real estate taxes in four years. At a land tax sale, properties are auctioned off with the bidding starting at the amount of taxes owed on the property. Real estate taxes are managed by the Office of the Collector of Revenue, and land tax sales are managed by the Office of the Sheriff.
Land tax sales are held several times a year. A list of the properties that will be up for bid at each sale are posted two weeks before the date of the sale. Potential bidders must pre-register online to receive a bid number. Bidders (individuals or businesses) must not have delinquent property taxes themselves or any housing code violations.
