City of St. Louis Invites NGA's New Neighbors to Community Meeting
Project Connect Aims to Build Action Plan

The City of St. Louis is asking the community to help create an action plan to connect development projects and neighborhood enhancements in the neighborhoods north of Downtown, including the future home of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's (NGA) West campus.
The NGA has named the City's site at the corner of N. Jefferson and Cass Avenues as its preferred site to build a $1.75 billion, state-of-the-art intelligence center. Once the NGA issues its Record of Decision in early June, the City's St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC) will begin site preparation to deliver a clean site to the NGA in late 2017.
The project provides a platform for leveraging new development opportunities in the neighborhoods surrounding and connecting to the next NGA West site. Project Connect aims to better connect and enhance City neighborhoods by building on areas of strength and investment.
During the first of several community meetings, SLDC will provide the community an update on the timeline of constructing the new NGA as well as answer any questions about the process. More importantly, it will seek input from residents and business owners about the future design of their neighborhoods. The Project Connect planning process starts with the community input gathered at these meetings.

About the NGA Project
As cited in the Final Environmental Impact Statement, NGA Director Robert Cardillo outlined reasons for choosing St. Louis as NGA's preferred location, including: environmental, cost and policy advantages;partnerships with universities and innovative, technology-based companies;the ability to recruit new talent based on the environment the City offers;and proximity to its data facilities and current and future workforce.
The NGA is expected to begin building a $1.75 billion facility in 2017 to move its 3,100 employees. As outlined in the final edition briefing book, the City of St. Louis location is a well-connected urban site at the intersection of N. Jefferson and Cass Avenues offered to the NGA at no cost. The Next NGA West video highlights how St. Louis will continue to help the NGA meet its mission, just as it has done for the past 72 years.
The proposed NGA site is located within a federally-designated Promise Zone and Strong Cities, Strong Communities (SC2) initiative.
The City's project garnered prominent letters of support, including those from U.S. Senators Claire McCaskill, Roy Blunt, and Kit Bond (retired), Gov. Jay Nixon, St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger, and the NAACP and AFL-CIO, to name a few.
