Department of Health and Office of Violence Prevention Offer Mental Health Resources

Resources and organizations prepared to assist anyone with mental health needs.

Following the tragic events of the shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School on October 24, 2022, the Department of Health and the Office of Violence Prevention convened a discussion of regional mental health leaders with a focus on the immediate and long–term needs of the students, staff, and the community at large. Listed below are resources and organizations prepared to assist anyone with mental health needs.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department - Victim Services Unit

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Victim Services Unit is available to provide support and resources for all of the students, staff, and families who were present at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School. Residents can call 314-444-5836 or email crimevictimadvocates@slmpd.org to be connected with an advocate.

Behavioral Health Response

Behavioral Health Response offers the community an immediate resource through BHR's 24/7/365 Crisis Line and Youth Connection Helpline.

If you or someone you know would like to talk with a clinician free of charge, please call 988 or 314-469-6644.

Youth can call 314-819-8802, chat online at bhrstl.com or text BHEARD to 31658. Clinicians are on standby waiting to speak with you.

Peak Response Trauma Program

This unique program is setting a milestone as the only program of its kind, serving the city of St. Louis! This program is specifically designed to decrease the negative effects of trauma on communities. It offers support to children, families, and communities in the STL city area, who are impacted by TRAUMA.
