Stockstrom House - City Landmark #37
Charles Stockstrom, a German who came to St. Louis in 1880, made his fortune in the Quick Meal Stove Company. His elegant house at 3400 Russell is sometimes called the Magic Chef Mansion.
In 1907 architect Ernst Janssen modeled his design of the house after the Schloss castle in Schwerin, Germany. The exterior style of the home reflects German Renaissance vocabulary, and the interior of the home has more of a French Renaissance influence.
